ANOTHER SHADE OF GREEN

Running a sustainable business is not only a smart thing to do; it is the right thing to do.  In Europe, sustainability is a way of life and for the last twenty years Kaspar and Nancy have continued that tradition at Kaspars.  We are committed to conducting our business in ways that support rather than harm the environment; for us, being sustainable is not just a policy it is what we do.  The team at Kaspars works together to create beautiful events using eco-friendly practices; after the events we recycle and compost everything possible.  Kaspars footprint, though not yet carbon free, is a soft step. Earth Friendly

  • Chef Kaspar uses fresh, local produce for his recipes.
  • Kaspars works with seasonal organizations such as Futurewise and Ag Forestry that promote the growth of farms in our state.
  • We are members of Cedar Grove’s Green Scene.  With this program, we compost ALL food waste meats, vegetables, post consumer scraps, soiled papers, etc.
    • Kaspars composts all food waste for on site as well as off site events; kitchen waste as well as consumer waste!
    • With the help of the City of Seattle and Cedar Grove we provide continuous training on proper waste disposal for composting and recycling.
    • All our waste is sorted and disposed of in the most ecologically sound manner - both at our facility and at off site locations.
  • Kaspars participates in the Community Supported Agriculture program – a program to provide a way for individuals to make a commitment to support local farms by buying what they grow during the growing season.  We are a drop site for a local farm to drop off produce and for individuals to pick it up.

Re Use

  • We promote the use of china, cutlery and linen whenever possible.  If we don’t have it we rent it.
  • We have invested in decorations that are reusable but offer the proper ambience on a buffet.
  •  We offer the option of using compostable, corn based and recyclable disposable products.
  •  Our cocktail napkins are made from recycled paper.

Sustainable

  • Oil and gasoline are scarce resources.  We encourage carpooling to our off-site catering events.
  • We promote the use of pitchers of water instead of bottled water.
  • Our streams and sound are vital to our community and ecology.  We use eco-friendly products for our laundry, cleaning and dishwashing at our facilities.
  • We use cold water to wash our linen. Why use cold instead of hot water?  Hot water extracts chemicals and leaches into the water used.

The Future

What we do now affects our future and it is simply common sense to make healthy changes for our communities, families and world.  There are varying shades of green and Kaspars aspires to continue along the path to dark green.
